WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY AWARDED FIVE YEAR HSE™ ACADEMIC REACCREDITATION AT THE JUNE 2024 NAB ANNUAL MEETING
Western Kentucky University renews NAB Accredited Health Services Degree Program
WASHINGTON, DC – During the June 2024 Annual Meeting, the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) Board of Governors awarded accreditation to Western Kentucky University’s Bachelors Program in Healthcare Administration with Long-Term Care Certificate. This program has become a high-quality program in a short period through the commitment and dedication of university leadership and faculty.
NAB Chairman Gaylord “Z” Thomas presented the award on June 7, 2024. He recognized Western Kentucky University for its commitment to higher education and quality program standards for graduates entering the senior living and health services profession. “The HCA program at WKU is honored to have received reaccreditation from NAB. This distinction not only reflects the program's commitment to excellence but also underscores the institution's dedication to preparing professionals for the evolving challenges in long-term care administration. It is a testament to the dedication of the program and departmental leadership in cultivating future industry leaders.” Department Chair of Public Health, Dr. William Mkanta.
Established in 1995, NAB's academic accreditation program goals are to improve and strengthen the academic preparation of Health Services Executive--a goal we believe educators share. NAB encourages the improvement of baccalaureate and graduate-level HSE™ degree programs by application of specific accreditation requirements to measure characteristics of a program, and by making judgments about the overall quality of the program.
NAB’s accreditation program has evolved over the past 25 years from a degree in nursing home administration to the current Health Services Executive (HSE™) degree program preparing students to meet practice standards in all lines of senior living and health services in states that have adopted the NAB HSE™ standard. Currently, 28 states have adopted the NAB HSE™ standard.
NAB, the nation’s authority on licensing executives in senior living and health services to deliver quality care, convenes 52 state regulatory boards and agencies, former state regulatory board members, academics, continuing education sponsors, and affiliated associations.
