ST. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE OF MAINE AWARDED FIVE YEAR HSE ACADEMIC REACCREDITATION AT THE JUNE 2023 NAB ANNUAL MEETING

St. Joseph's College of Maine renews their NAB Accredited Health Services Degree Program

WASHINGTON, DC – During the June 2023 Annual Meeting, the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) Board of Governors awarded five year accreditation to St. Joseph's College of Maine. St. Joseph's College of Maine’s HSE degree program has risen as a high quality program in a short span of time through the commitment and dedication of university leadership and faculty.

NAB Chairman Z Thomas presented the award on June 16, 2023, and recognized Saint Joseph’s College of Maine for its commitment to higher education and quality program standards for graduates entering the senior living and health services profession. “Saint Joseph’s College of Maine joined a prestigious group of high-quality degree programs in recognizing the value of and need for well-educated and trained leaders in

furthering public protection and enhanced quality of life for clients of organizations providing senior living and health services.” "This accreditation process provided an opportunity to show the inner workings of both our programs and our teamwork, especially between faculty and student," said Kevin Harrington, the Program Director of Health Administration Programs at Saint Joseph's College. "The outcome is a prospective curriculum that provides the foundation for healthcare professionals to truly be ready to make a difference in the lives of the patients and communities they serve," said Steven Chies, the Long-Term Program Manager. In accepting the award, Steve Chies stated, “We are grateful to NAB and the accreditation site visit team for this milestone recognition and honor, and we are very excited, as a fully online program, to stay among the leaders of the NAB-accredited programs in educating talented, critically thinking, and compassionate future leaders for essential health and aging services leadership positions.”

Established in 1995, NAB's academic accreditation program goals are to improve and strengthen the academic preparation of Health Services Executives – a goal we believe educators share. NAB encourages improvement of baccalaureate and graduate level HSE degree programs by application of specific accreditation requirements to measure characteristics of a program, and by making judgments about the overall quality of the program.

NAB’s accreditation program has evolved over the past 25 years from a degree in nursing home administration to the current Health Services Executive (HSE) degree program preparing students to meet practice standards in all lines of senior living and health services in states that have adopted the NAB HSE standard. Currently 26 states have adopted the NAB HSE standard.

NAB, the nation’s authority on licensing executives in senior living and health services to deliver quality care, convenes 52 state regulatory boards and agencies, former state regulatory board members, academics, continuing education sponsors, and affiliated associations.
