The NAB Continuing Education Committee met on October 26, 2023, in New Orleans, LA, during the NAB 2023 Mid-Year Meeting.

During the meeting, we were excited to share that with the release of the newly updated CE Provider Handbook, the committee had made a significant step towards completing our strategic plan goals.

The majority of our meeting was spent taking an in-depth look at the recommendations presented in the Bostrom Consulting Group’s final report from the CE Research Project. The committee leadership, supported by NAB Staff, presented recommended changes to implement based on the report, current program needs, and other factors. The recommendations presented include:

·                Requiring CE providers to utilize engaged learning with their programming.

·                Updating materials and resources, such as separating the CE Provider Handbook into a policy/procedure guide and a NABVerify user manual.

·                Developing a reviewer matrix, which will allow for a more objective and consistent review process.

·                Scheduling annual or semi-annual instructional webinars for CE Providers.

·                Enhanced program monitoring procedures.

·                Creation of a Program Development Guide, to help CE Providers understand and utilize engaged learning.

Development and implementation of these recommendations, and others, will be supported by 2 task forces comprised of members of the CE Committee and NCERS reviewers – one for revising policies and procedures, and one for creating the Program Development Guide. Work on these projects will start in early 2024, with a goal of presenting the first round of changes to the Board of Governors at the 2024 NAB Annual Meeting in June.

Lastly, we are pleased to welcome two newly approved Certified CE Providers – PA Coalition of Affiliated Healthcare & Living Communities (PACAH) and LeadingAge Michigan!
